Triangle Offense Playbook

(Note plays will continued to be added over time)

It's important to note that the triangle offense is a fluid system that emphasizes ball movement and player movement, so players should be ready to adjust to different situations on the fly. It's also important to practice the play and also to play with teammates who are familiar with the system to make it more effective.

  • Start the play by bringing the ball up the court and initiating the offense by passing the ball to the point guard (PG) at the top of the key.
  • The PG will then pass the ball to the wing player (SG or SF) on the strong-side of the court.
  • The wing player will then pass the ball to the post player (PF or C) at the elbow of the free throw line.
  • As the post player receives the ball, the PG cuts through the lane to the opposite wing. The post player should pass the ball back to the PG.
  • The PG will then pass the ball back to the wing player on the weak-side of the court, who will look to make a pass to the post player for a shot or to the cutting SG or SF on the weak side corner.
  • If the weak-side wing player pass the ball to the cutting SG or SF and he is open, he should take the shot. If not he should look for the post player or the PG who is open.
  • If the post player receives the ball and he is open, he should take the shot. If not he should look for the cutting SG or SF or the PG who is open.
  • If the PG receives the ball and he is open, he should take the shot. If not he should look for the cutting SG or SF or the post player who is open.
